It is a requirement of most professional therapy associations, including those that accredit our course, that new therapists undertake supervision. See an article explaining what this means here.

Who needs supervision?

Each hypnotherapy professional body has its own rules about the supervision you are expected to undertake, and for how long. This may be just in your first few years of practice or as long as you are seeing clients.

Our tutor Debbie Waller is an Advanced Practitioner with the G.H.R. and also an accredited supervisor. She holds a Certificate in Clinical Supervision approved by the British Psychological Society the only UK psychology/psychotherapy body established by Royal Charter. It is one of the primary national leads in determining national recommendations on clinical supervision, and operates across a range of groups and helping professions. Debbie also trains supervisors and welcomes enquiries about the courses.

The GHR, the ACCPH and the APHP list Debbie as a hypnotherapy supervisor. She can accept supervisees from other professional bodies as well, depending on their rules about supervision. Some organisations have a list of pre-vetted supervisors and expect you to choose from that list. Some will accept supervision with anyone they see as suitably qualified. Please ask for details.

Supervision and post-qualification support for students of Yorkshire Hypnotherapy Training

During your training, Debbie will provide whatever supervision you need. She is contactable at all times (though preferably not in the middle of the night!) via email or phone. After you have completed your training, you can continue to contact us for advice and support throughout your career.

YHT offers a supervision group aimed primarily at newly qualified graduates, who meet every two to three months on Zoom.

Supervision for those who have trained elsewhere

There are vacancies for regular one-to-one supervision and there is sometimes a group supervision option. The group is for hypnotherapists who have been in practice for at least a year, and meets on Zoom bi-monthly. Please contact Debbie if you want to come along.
