YHT aims to provide a supportive and positive learning experience. If something isn’t right, I would encourage you to tell me so that we can try to resolve the issue quickly and fairly. Most concerns can be dealt with informally, but this policy explains the formal steps available if needed.
I want to make it as simple as possible for you to voice your concerns. You do not need to use formal or legal language to file a complaint.
Informal Resolution
You are encouraged to raise concerns as soon as possible, ideally at the time the issue arises. This can be done verbally or in writing.
- Phone: Debbie Waller 01977 678593
- Email: yorks.ht@btinternet.com
- Online Contact Form: https://www.yorkshirehypnotherapytraining.co.uk/contacts
- What to include: your full name, preferred contact details, and a clear description of your concern or the specific incident.
Many concerns can be resolved quickly through discussion and clarification, without the need for a formal complaint.
Formal Complaint, Other than Assessment Decisions
If the matter cannot be resolved informally, a formal complaint should be made in writing within three months of the incident taking place.
Please use the complaints form at the bottom of this page. This ensures that we collect the same information and GDPR permissions from everyone.
- Acknowledgement: We will formally acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 14 days of receiving it.
- Investigation: We will look into the matter without undue delay to understand what happened and how the situation might be resolved.
Complaints will normally be investigated by Debbie Waller as Head Tutor and Director of the Training Company. However, if the complaint relates directly to Debbie Waller, or if there is another reason why this would not be appropriate (e.g., conflict of interest), a suitably experienced and qualified person who has not otherwise been involved in the matter will be appointed. - Progress Updates: If the investigation takes time (for example, due to technical complexity), we will provide you with regular, timely updates on our progress.
- Final Outcome: We will write to you to explain the final outcome of our investigation, including any corrective actions taken, without undue delay.
Concerns About Assessment Decisions
As part of YHT’s quality assurance procedures, a random sample of assessed work is routinely reviewed by an independent assessor to ensure consistency and fairness in submission standards and in marking.
If a student believes that a piece of assessed work has not been marked fairly, they may request that it is sent to the independent assessor allocated to their class for review. Please make this request within 14 days of receiving the result.
The reviewer will consider whether the assessment criteria have been applied appropriately and consistently. The reviewer’s decision will be final.
This process is in place to address concerns about the fairness and consistency of marking. It does not provide an opportunity to appeal solely based on a disagreement with academic judgment.
External Review
If a student remains dissatisfied after exhausting YHT’s internal procedures, they may refer the matter to the relevant accrediting body in accordance with that organisation’s policies and procedures.
The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) will only consider complaints after YHT’s internal complaints procedure has been completed. Their complaints procedure is at https://general-hypnotherapy-register.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Training-Provider-Reviews-Policy-Complaints-Process.pdf
