Many hypnotherapists search online for free hypnotherapy scripts or hypnosis scripts when developing new sessions or exploring new techniques. While there are plenty of scripts available online, the quality varies quite a bit.
This page brings together a curated selection of some of the most useful free hypnotherapy scripts available online, based on my experience as a therapist and trainer. My choices are not in any particular order, so just wander down the list and enjoy. And don’t forget that if you use these as a basis for your sessions, you should always adapt and personalise your scripts to suit your clients.

Where to Find Free Hypnotherapy Scripts Online

American School of Hypnosis
These hypnotherapy scripts are written by therapists connected to the American School of Hypnosis and are free to use in your client sessions. As with most sites which give away scripts, there are also script collections to buy. Scroll down below the paid options to find the free ones. The pages are ‘read-only’, but you can print them off and edit them to suit your client.
Hypnosense
There’s a list of free scripts on this page, but you will have to register with the site to get to the scripts themselves. Registration is free, and in my experience, Hypnosense is not inclined to spam you with sales messages!

Free Hypnosis Scripts
A very wide choice of 200+ inductions, deepeners, therapy scripts and wakening. Particularly useful for beginners, as there are often several scripts on a theme to use in successive sessions. These will, of course, require editing and personalisation, but used as a template, they can provide you with ideas for building an ongoing set of sessions. Some scripts on this site may be curated from other sources, so be extra careful about checking copyright and T&C.
Best Hypnosis Scripts (previously Key Hypnosis)
A variety of scripts and techniques. I particularly like the way the hypnotherapy scripts give you comments down the side, so you know exactly what each section or suggestion is designed to achieve. Really useful when adapting them, especially if you lack a bit of experience.

Tips for Hypnotherapists: How to Use Hypnotherapy Scripts
Having said my piece about the pros and cons of hypnotic scripts, I’m not going to repeat myself too much. But I’d like to add that, although scripts can be helpful starting points, the most effective sessions are likely to include at least some elements tailored to the individual client.
Scripts can be adapted to reflect a client’s language, goals, interests, and experiences. You might use a script as written, adapt sections of it, or simply take inspiration from the structure and develop your own session content. Check out the scripts tag on this blog for lots more help and advice on this.
Can You Record Free Hypnosis Scripts?
The fact that the scripts are offered free of charge does not affect the copyright of the owner. Most have terms and conditions attached. Often this means the scripts can be used in hypnosis sessions with clients, but not recorded* or used for training. The T&C may also have changed since I last checked. Please, therefore, check what you can and can’t do with these resources before using any of them.
*Using other people’s scripts for recordings, whether free or paid, can be a difficult area anyway in copyright terms, check out my guide.
More Free Hypnotherapy Script Resources
This blog lists a few of my personal favourite resources, the ones I send my students to. You, of course, may know of others. If you do, feel free to post them in the comments section to help spread the word for those who so generously give of their time and knowledge. On this occasion, please include only sites which offer at least a few of their scripts free of charge.
Many Facebook Groups for hypnotherapists build a files section for members which will also include free scripts and resources. I recommend Meeting of Minds. Counselling and Hypnotherapy Tips and Resources and Hypnotic Women (sorry guys!).
Have a look at my related blog, How to Have a Free Hypnotherapy Script for Everything, which will give you some more ideas.
I also have two relevant books, which are free if you have Kindle Unlimited. If not, they are available in paperback for purchase.
- Their Worlds, Your Words, which takes you step by step through a suggestion script and a metaphor, showing you how to develop and personalise the content.
- The Metaphor Toolbox, which contains over 30 original metaphors covering a variety of topics, each one with helpful notes about how to adapt it to different clients.
Supporting this article
I check the links on this page regularly. However, if you find that any of them are broken or no longer give free scripts, please let me know.
If you know of other good, free hypnotherapy scripts, you can let me know about those too. Post them in the comments, or send them to me via the contact page, so I can consider adding them to the main article.
